How to Use Video In Your Marketing Message

How to actually use video in your marketing strategy is open for debate although there are some key things you should consider when putting your video(s) together.

1st.  Have a goal.  What do you want your website visitors to do when they see your video(s) on YouTube or any of the other online video sites?   Here is a short list of actions you might want to have your visitors take.

  • Visit your website
  • Sign up for your video feed
  • Pass your video(s) onto friends
  • Imbedd your video(s) in their site
  • Or remember your companies brand from the video(s)
2nd.  For those of you looking to generate traffic to your website, what do you want your visitors to do when they get to your webiste.  You should also have video(s) on your website that’s help persuade your visitor to take action while on your site. Here is a short list of things you can have your visitor take action on once they visit your site.
  • Buy your product or service
  • Sign up for your newsletter list
  • Pick up the phoen and give you a call
  • Learn something about you,  your company, or your industry
  • Learn how to use a product or service
It’s important for you to get clear about what you want your visitor to do when they see your video ad.  Start out by setting a realistic goal for your ad campaign.  Then develop several video’s to help move the client to the outcome that you’ve determined. 

Important Elements to Include In Your Video Sales Message

Online marketing videos contain the basic elements of a tradition sales message.  It’s important to first connect with your audience.  You have to let them know that you are familiar with the kind of problem they are having.  After identifying their problem then you have to communicate to them in a compelling way that you know the best way for them solve their problem.  In your description of how to solve their problem you should state the steps that you will take them through to get to the solution.  Also, you will want to mention the possible benefits they will get from implementing your solution.  Last but not least is a call to action.  You have to ask your prospect to take some kind of action and you have to ensure that it’s an easy process for them to take action.  You want to make their experience is as seemless as possible.  

Use this acronym to help ensure you have the necessary elements to produce a compelling marketing message 

AIDA

Attention - Get their attention by mentioning something important to them or something you believe they will relate to.

Interest - Once you have their attention, sustain that attention by telling them a story, giving statistics, or telling them why they should fix their problem or why they should use your solution.

Desire - Use emotional words to help fan the flames of their desire.  Tell them how their life will be different as a result of using your solution.

Action - Ask them to take some kind of action.  That action can be to sign up for your email list or buy a product or service you’re offering.
