In this post I am going to give a simple explanation of what Social Media is:

• Social media is a more evolved way to develop business and personal relationships through the internet.
• Social media is Facebook, Myspace YouTube, Twitter, Linked-In, Blogs, Vlogs, along with many other contribution based websites.
• Social Media is redefining how we relate to each other as humans and how we as humans relate to the organizations that serve us.
• Social media platform is arguably the most far-reaching innovation since the development of the internet.
• Social media empowers consumers to make better decisions and empowers businesses to better serve their clients and customers. • Social media is a necessity if you plan on growing your business online in 2008 and beyond.

The history of social media began in the earlier part of this decade when sites like Friendster and Myspace first entered the internet world. Soon after, more concentrated discussions began about this new way to communicate online and the term Web2.0 was coined to describe this new digital interaction. As more Web2.0 sites were developed they eventually became known as social media sites because of their ability to bring people together.

Now there are hundreds of new Social Media sites that each focus on different areas of human interest. My focus regarding my business Tube Ads is teaching businesses how to use social media and video marketing to generate more business and better brand themselves online. Also, I teach businesses how to use social media networks to create long term relationships with internet users which ultimately helps to boost the bottom line.

Can Your Marketing Message Survive without Video?

September 30, 2008 · Posted in Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Social Networking (Web 2.0) · Comment

Don’t even think about the future of your internet marketing strategy without considering video.  Internet users are more likely to view video than read your text ad or listen to your audio message.  Also, using video to market your products and services will offer you new ways to tap in to your viewers emotional center and persuade them to take action.

Video gives you the ability to engage your viewer on multiple levels of communication using images, spoken word, music, sound effects, and motion video. Having access to all these elements in your ad allows you to communicate to people in the way that they learn best.  This in turn gives you more power to capture your visitors attention and persuade them to take action.

Moreover, this new medium is growing by leaps and bounds. Video is the fastest growing content segment on the internet.  According to comScore, Americans watched 9 billion online videos just in the month of July.  Also, Online Publishers Association estimates that 80% of the people who visit your site will watch your video and 52% will take action.

Video is the next evolution of internet marketing.  If you want to stay on the cutting-edge of internet success you should consider using video in your marketing strategy.  The formula for success using video is debatable but as it stands now, viral videos that cause the viewer to pass information on have been the most successful.

Old TV Commercials Part Two

“Winston tastes good, like a ________ _________.” (Cigarette should)

“My ________ has a first name, that’s __________, my ____________ has a second name that’s ___________…” (My boloney has a first name, that’s Oscar, my boloney has a second name that’s Mayer…)

If you were a kid in the 60’s, chances are you were planted in front of a television, and you can almost hear that tune of the second slogan in your head, cant you? Just in case you came along later, these old slogans stem from TV commercials airing 30-40 years ago. Often paired with music, familiar and newly composed, they helped to sell products.

“McDonald’s is my kind of place, (clap, clap). It’s such a happy place…”

“Things go better with Coca Cola. Things go better with Coke…”

Both of these tunes are easily recalled if you were around when they were used to promote. (Is there a trivia buff out there who knows how many times McDonald’s changed the songs in their commercials?) Regardless, those songs have played themselves out in our heads for decades, and not just for entertainment. Our purchases have been influenced. They’ve also touched us emotionally. You think you’re in charge? Not when it comes to the subconscious influence of association. If you want to be a sexy, macho cowboy and make women melt at the very sight of you, smoke Marlboro’s. Were you a do-it-all woman, and by the way, let men know you were also sexy? “I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, ever let you forget you’re a man,

Cuz I’m a woman, Enjouli(fragrance)” With TV, you didn’t have to spell it out. Appeal to the emotions and you’ve got’em by the tale. Watch for more information on communicating your message through internet marketing.

Old TV Commercials

At the risk of dating myself, I’d like to play a little game with you. Ready?

“Winston tastes good, like a ________ _________.”

“My ________ has a first name, that’s __________, my ____________ has a second name that’s ___________…”

These old slogans stem from TV commercials airing 30-40 years ago. Often paired with music, familiar and newly composed, they helped to sell products.

“I’d rather fight, than ________.” Ask anyone over the age of 50 and they’ll shout the word, “Switch”! This slogan was coined for Lucky Strike Cigarettes, (they’ll tell you that too) back when it was okay to advertise cigarettes on TV.

This form of advertising was highly successful. Pairing music with words and experiences creates a subconscious anchor. Doing so will often cause people to act a certain way, when their choice of action is beneath their level of awareness. Today, TV commercials take things a step further by subconsciously anchoring emotions, as they are associated with products or actions.

The use of subconscious association in advertising is a fascinating study. Depending on the suggestibility of an individual, they can be persuaded to purchase a product, visit a destination, or switch from one company to another without even being aware of why they are choosing to take action.

Get the answers to those slogans listed above in our next blog submission.
